CNN's Don Lemon Cuts Republican's Air Time Short...

maxresdefault.jpg
On Friday, CNN Reporter Don Lemon cut Republican guest Paris Dennard's time short after claiming a true story about Donald Trump was "fake news."

This all started while Lemon was doing a segment on his show "CNN Tonight." In this segment, Lemon invites four guests (usually, two Republican Trump supporters, and two Democratic Hillary supporters), and they all talk about things that have to do with politics. On this specific day, they were talking about Trump's expensive trips, and how all of these trips were being fuelled by tax payers. The fact of the matter is, Trump has spent more than any other president in history. Now, when you're talking about sensitive subjects like this, especially when the people you're talking about it with have opposing views, obviously, people will either interrupt each other, and talk over each other. However, this takes it to a whole new level.

Dennard started saying how this is a "fake news" story, and that Trump was "not breaking any laws.” Lemon immediately cut him off. He started saying things like "Do you even know what the definition of a fake news story is." and Lemon explained it to him by saying "A fake news story is a story that is made up by someone to lower the chances of their opponent succeeding. This is not a fake news story. If you don't want to participate, that's fine, but don't go saying things that aren't true." Once Dennard practically ignored this statement and continued about this "fake news," Lemon simply cut him off, and ended the entire show. This takes not agreeing with someone, and escalating it immensely.

Because of this, President Trump actually banned CNN, and four other news companies (The New York Times, NBC News, ABC News and CBS News) from attending any of his press conferences, simply because they have opinions, and state them.

No matter what are views are, Republican or not, I think we can all agree that these past few weeks, have been crazy. Everyday, a new story like this emerges, whether it's an absurd decision that Trump has made, a story about a Trump supporter going crazy, or a Democrat fighting back. Now, wherever you stand, Trump supporter or not, isn't up to me, but just know, if you think this is bad, I'm sorry to tell you, but it's only the beginning.

2017 NBA All-Star Weekend

The 2017 National Basketball Association held their 66th NBA All-Star weekend this past weekend. It was in New Orleans and their were many great moments that will be remembered for a while along with a record breaking all-star game. The game was relocated last minute from Charlotte to New Orleans, They have hosted it three times in the past nine years.

The Celebrity Game was and is never too serious, for the most part, and such was the case at the Superdome, even without Kevin Hart. the 5"3 comedian and four-time MVP winner skipped this year’s game, leaving it to Mark Cuban and a host of mostly actors and rappers to do it alone. Cuban and the West team were socked 88-59 by the East. Also, both teams engaged in the mannequin challenge just before the start of the second half and manage not to stumble. The MVP went out to Brandon Armstrong a former D-league player and now who is famous for impersonating professional basketball players. The real MVP may have been Jarrius Robertson, a 14-year-old battling a chronic liver disease who entered the game in the fourth quarter for the West, immediately drilling a jumper to cap off the best 1-for-1 shooting night you will ever see.

On Saturday night was the skills competition. the winner of the Taco Bell all skills challenge went to Kristaps Porzingis a big man for the New York Knicks. Eric Gordon beat out Steph Curry for the three point competition and the slam dunk winner went too Glen Robinson lll although the competition wasnt as entertaining as last years.

On Saturday night all players and celebrities shot threes where the money they raised would go to the Sager foundation and they raised 500 thousand dollars.

On Sunday the West took on the East and defeated them 192-182. Anthony Davis dropped a record breaking 52 points and beat Wilt Chamberlain's record by 10 points. Russel Westbrook proved he should have been a starter by dropping 40 points in only 20 minutes. He was on the same team as his old teammate who left him Kevin Durant.

This past weekend was one to remember as their are many great moments to remember after a very entertaining all star weekend.

A Star Orbited by 7 Different Planets Meaning Hope for Other Life

Recently, according to CTV News, a couple of scientists have discovered seven planets orbiting a star. This solar system is about forty light years away from ours. Scientists have named this new solar system TRAPPIST-1 and it is much smaller than our own. Only three of the seven planets are capable of life due to the fact that they are currently in the "Goldilocks" zone. This zone is capable of sustaining life. Also, The seven planets show a potential sign of water, according to an article published on Wednesday by Journal Nature. It has been so long since we have discovered planets and a sun so similar to our solar system. What is also really cool about this discovery is that these planet could actually sustain life. Each planet is similar to Venus and Earth. We found the sun using combinations of Earth made telescopes and also with the help of  Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes. Although the planets are quite close to their sun, the heat of the star is not as intense as ours, which means that there could be signs of life on the planets.

Scientists have compared the dwarf sun and its planets to the size of Jupiter and its moons. Due to greenhouse gases, the days and nights will make the planet's temperatures the same. The planets are also tidally locked which means that one side is always facing the sun. The size of the planet itself is only 8% the size of the sun. Suns like these usually burn cooler and last longer. This star is around 200 times dimmer than our sun. The only planet that might be close to sustaining life is cooler than Earth, but according to Triaud, "Temperature should be fine", but only
if the greenhouse gas forms an atmosphere.

We Have A Winner!!!

On Sunday, February 5th, the Patriots won Super Bowl LI. It is said by fans to be one of the most exciting and intense game in NFL history. The Falcons dominated in the first half, leading 21-3. A lot of mistakes were made by the Patriots in the first half. For example, Tom Brady threw an interception to Robert Alford for a pick 6. The throw was originally going to Danny Amendola. The Falcons were having a fun time dominating the Patriots in the first half of the game. Matt Ryan threw zero interceptions and threw two touchdown passes in the first half. He had a total of 240 passing yards and an extra 44 rushing yards. The Falcons had a total of 104 rushing yards. Devonta Freeman had a total of 75 rushing yards with one touchdown. His substitute, Tevin Coleman had only a total of 29 rushing yards. But surprisingly, Julio Jones got 87 yards, but he did not get a single touchdown the entire game. Neither did Taylor Gabriel, who had a total of 76 yards. Coleman got a touchdown from a pass from Matt Ryan.

The Patriots now have a total of five Super Bowls, Which means that Tom Brady has a total of five Super Bowl rings and he has four Super Bowl MVPs. The Patriots had a tough time in the first half of the game, most likely because they took the Falcons too lightly, Who knew that Tom Brady would have thrown an interception? In total, Brady had a total of 442 passing yards, almost doubling Matt Ryan's total passing yards. Brady had an extra 24 rushing yards which then led to a total of 466 yards. LeGarrette Blount had a total of 31 rushing yards, but zero touchdowns. The running back who scored a run touchdown was James White and he had less yards the Blount. White had a total of 29 yards. He even had the most receiving yards with a total of 110 yards. Julian Edelman had 87 yards, Amendola had 78 yards, Malcolm Mitchell had 70 yards, Martellus Bennett had 62 yards and Chris Hogan had 57 yards. The player who scored th
e overtime touchdown was Jared White.

Trump to Meet With Trudeau On Monday

https://insideclimatenews.org/sites/default/files/styles/icn_full_wrap_wide/public/
This coming Monday, Prime Minister Trudeau is going to be flying to Washington D.C. where he is to meet with President Trump, to discuss various topics of concern between the two countries. This not the first time they have spoken following Trumps inauguration, the two leaders had a conversation over the phone where Trudeau congratulated Trump on his recent victory and discussed the Canada-US economic relationship. It was this conversation that led to the meeting that has been arranged for Monday.

During their meeting on Monday, the Prime Minister's Office announced that, "They look forward to discussing the unique relationship between Canada and the United States of America and how we can continue to work hard for middle-class Canadians and Americans, together." The main topic to be discussed will be trade relations, particularly Trumps plans to renegotiate the North American free-trade agreement (NAFTA). Canada is prepared to retaliate if the U.S. imposes new tariffs, Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland said Wednesday in Washington, where she met with her counterpart, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Trump has said he’d like to speed up talks to renegotiate NAFTA or replace it entirely. On Feb. 2, he met with congressional lawmakers urging them to make a new deal happen. “Maybe we do a new NAFTA, and we put an extra ‘f’ in the term ‘NAFTA,” Mr. Trump said. “You know what the extra ‘f’ is for, right? Free and fair trade. … because it’s very unfair.”

Another item that Trudeau is likely to be looking at with Trump is a proposal to impose a "border adjustment tax" on foreign imports, meaning that there will be a 10% tax applied to all Canadian imports. The goal of this taxing, brought forward by Republican members of the House of Representatives tax committee, is to boost U.S. manufacturing. Approving the plan “would be detrimental to exporters to the U.S., including Canada where dependence on exports has grown in light of slowing domestic demand,” a senior economist with the National Bank of Canada wrote in a client note recently posted online.

https://www.nbc.ca/content/dam/bnc/en/rates-and-analysis/economic-analysis/hot-charts-12jan2017.pdf

To sweeten the pot for American producers, the tax reform proposes to exempt U.S. exporters from being taxed on profits from their export.

Some other topics of concern that are likely to be brought up in their meeting are, Trumps relationship with Russia, and Canada's contribution to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Another topic that is likely to arise is Trumps recent travel ban and the mostly negative consequences that have occurred from it.

Who doesn’t love a good hockey game? Especially here in Canada, hockey is our #1 sport! Over the years, there have been many amazing hockey legends that paved the way for the newer athletes. Here are the Top 5 Hockey Player of All Time!

1. Wayne Gretzky

Wayne “The Great One” Gretzky is in no doubt the greatest hockey is in no doubt the best hockey player of all time. Gretzky was such a dominant player no because of his speed or size but because of his hockey IQ. Gretzky always knew where to be on the ice and who to give the puck to. 2. Bobby Orr

Bobby finished his career with 915 points, 2 Stanley cups, 8 Norris trophies, 2 Art Ross trophies,  2 Con Smythe trophies, 3 Hart and Pearson trophies. Calder and is now in the hockey hall of fame.

The 2017 NHL Trade Block

The 2016-17 NHL season is not far from ending as one of the biggest days of the season is coming up, the NHL trade deadline as many huge players can be moved before that day. The deadline is on March 1st at 6:00p.m.

As the season is winding down closer and closer to the playoffs every team still has a chance to make a push for the playoff. A huge trade can change a lot.

Kevin shattenkirk a top defenceman for the St. Louis Blues is expected to be traded. He has 35 points in 52 games and makes 4.25 million dollarrs a year at the age of 27. Many teams are interested in him such as Tronto, Boston, Edmonton and the New York rangers who all have many good players to offer.

Another huge player expected to be traded is Matt Duchene. He has 32 points in 44 games at the age of 26. He makes 6 million a year as this year has been a very slow season for him so is a change all he needs?

Martin Hanzel a second line center for the Arizona coyotes should be on the move as the Montreal Canadians are very interested in him. Montreal is in the need of a new center so Hanzel can be a good fit. Gabriel Landeskog another Player from Colorado who has a slow year as the captain may also be on the move to Montreal.

The Boston Bruins are very intrested in the Edmonton Oilers Jordan Eberle who plays along side one of the worlds best players, Connor McDavid. He would be a good fit as the bruins are just in the playoffs but many teams are catching up.

Three top class goaltenders also may be on the move as they are reaching near the end of their career and the Las Vegas expansion draft is coming up so teams want to at least get something out of it. Goalies looking for a move are Fleury, Pavelec and Bishop a outstanding goalie for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins two powerhouses who don't have many holes in your lineup will they try and one up the other by making a trade before the deadline as they will most likely face each other in the second round.

This year may be the year with the best players out looking for a trade. Many teams are in contention to have a chance at the playoffs and go far so March 1st will be a very interesting day.

We're All Excited To See What Lady Gaga Has In Store For Her Super Bowl Performance

lady-gaga-184aec0d-2a15-4892-b29b-c7408bbf6409.jpg
The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the biggest performances a musician could do. This year, Lady Gaga will be taking the centre stage, and we're all ecstatic to see how she will do. Last year, Coldplay was the one to perform, with two special guests, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. Who could forget Beyoncé politically charged performance, that got very mixed reviews by critics and viewers. This year, in order to avoid that, Gaga was asked to avoid being political during her performance, at all costs.

Gaga, who was an outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter, hasn't told anyone what songs she will be performing, or how political her performance will be. She has however, hinted that she won't shy away from showcasing any themes of diversity throughout her show, which has been a constant throughout her career. Gaga told The New York Times that "The only statements that I’ll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I’ve been consistently making throughout my career,” “I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality, and that the spirit of this country is one of love and compassion and kindness. My performance will uphold those philosophies.” Which, in my opinion, is beautifully said. Whether Gaga will perform songs from her new album, Joanne, or stick with her original hits is all up in the air right now, nobody knows.

As for any special guests, people are speculating that Tony Bennett (who has collaborated with Gaga in the past) will introduce her, and, it would be no shock if Beyoncé makes yet another appearance (if she does, it will be her fourth). One thing that I think we all can agree on, is that there may be very extravagant and rapid costume changes. Anyone who has seen Gaga perform live before, whether live or on TV, can definitely agree. Under normal circumstances, costume changes are easy to do, but, the Super Bowl halftime show only lasts about 12 minutes, so it's hard to tell.

Whatever happens at the halftime show on Sunday, we are sure Gaga will do an amazing job. "I've been planning this since I was four, so I know exactly what I'm going to do," Gaga said recently. "For me, it's all about giving to the fans and bringing people together that wouldn't normally come together."

Trump Muslim Ban

This past week the president of the United States Donald Trump issued an executive order that led to visa and green card owning immigrants being denied entry to flights back into the country or being sent back to the war torn countries that they're from. This leads to numerous protests and complaints from citizens all across the country. Not only the U.S. people were surprised by this sudden order but even

In this executive order, seven Muslim-majority countries were put on a no fly list for 90 days and it also suspended all refugee admission for 120 days. The countries included in the ban are Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan and Yemen. The ban does not apply to the nationalities of those who were responsible for the 9/11 attacks, such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt. There has been speculation that this was because the Trump Organization has business dealings in those countries. In financial disclosure forms during Trumps presidential campaign, he listed two companies with dealings in Egypt and eight with business in Saudi Arabia. And in the UAE, the Trump Organization is partnering with a local billionaire to develop two golf courses in Dubai.

As a result of those allegations White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said Trump's business ties had no influence over the countries selected for the travel ban. He goes on to say that the countries chosen were the ones that had already been identified as a concern by congress and the Obama Administration. He added, "That does not mean that other countries wouldn't be added later to a subsequent executive order."

Barack Obamas spokesperson Kevin Lewis has released a statement about the situation saying, “Citizens exercising their Constitutional right to assemble, organize and have their voices heard by their elected officials is exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake.”

In the executive order it states, "In order to protect Americans, the United States must ensure that those admitted to this country do not bear hostile attitudes toward it and its founding principles. The United States cannot, and should not, admit those who do not support the Constitution, or those who would place violent ideologies over American law. In addition, the United States should not admit those who engage in acts of bigotry or hatred (including "honor" killings, other forms of violence against women, or the persecution of those who practice religions different from their own) or those who would oppress Americans of any race, gender, or sexual orientation." Although this can apply to some of the country's that are placed on the list, it brings back the point that none of the country's on the list have been responsible for any recent attacks in the U.S.

This Weekend is Super Bowl LI

Super Bowl LI will be held on Sunday, February 5th at Houston, Texas. All the teams in the NFL but up a great fight, but only two can make it to the Super Bowl and claim the Lombardi Trophy. Those two teams are the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. It is the Falcons second time back to the super bowl after losing to the Denver Broncos at Super Bowl XXXIII. They have a pretty good chance at winning with Julio Jones as their star wide receiver and Devonta Freeman as their running back. They mopped the floor with the Green Bay Packers, winning the NFC championship 44-21. If their quarterback, Matt Ryan, can do the same thing that he did against the Packers defense, then the Falcons should have no problem putting up points on the board against the Patriots. They also played a great defensive game against the Packers. They put intense pressure on Aaron Rodgers, making him move out of the slot. If they can do that to Tom Brady, the Falcons would have a pretty good shot at winning the Super Bowl.

The best thing about the patriots is their offense. Their star player is Tom Brady. Since the Patriots have lost Rob Gronkowski, Brady needs to find other receivers to look for on the field. The people who Brady will look for more often will be Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan and Danny Amendola. As I said before, the Falcons have put decent pressure on the Packers, but they will have a lot of trouble trying to penetrate the Patriots offensive line. A lot of people thought that the Patriots would destroy the Steelers in the AFC championship. But they only won 36-17 which is still a good win. Their defense is also pretty good with Malcolm Butler to cover Julio Jones. If Bill Belichick does this, they might have a chance of winning. Overall, the two teams are equal in offense and defense. The Patriots have a better quarterback, the Falcons have a better wide receiver and a slightly better running back, but their defenses are equal.

2017 NHL all-star Weeekend

The 2017 National Hockey League all-star weekend took place this past weekend in Los Angeles. Their were many NHL alumni along with many celebrities who attended the game. The weekend was jammed packed with many different events going on such as a celebrity hockey game, NHL choosing the top 100 players and many more.

On Friday night the NHL named the top 100 players to ever play the game. The 100 Greatest NHL Players is a centerpiece in honoring 100 years of NHL hockey. A Blue Ribbon panel comprised of distinguished members of the hockey community including executives, media members and NHL alumni - selected the list of esteemed players.

On Saturday there was a celebrity all-star game which included all the alumni from the top 100 who can still play and singer songwriter Justin Bieber. Bieber was driven into the boards in the first half by a laughing Pronger, who spent 18 years in the league as a hard-nosed defenceman. The singer responded with an empty-net goal and an assist as Team Gretzky beat Team Lemieux 5-3 in the 2017 NHL All-Star Celebrity Shootout. Bieber did not look out of place while sharing the ice with current NHL stars Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers and the Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane, along with a host of retired greats and hockey loving entertainment figures.

Saturday night was the NHL all-star game skills competition. . We saw Snoop Dogg DJ the introduction and play a non-censored version of the song, which the NHL apologized for later on. Then came the accuracy shooting. A classic event in which Daniel Sedin holds the record at 7.3 seconds. Sidney Crosby won it scoring 4 out of 5 in just over 10 seconds. Connor McDavid won the fastest skater competition and Shea Weber won the hardest shot competition. Arizona Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith saved it, scoring a jaw-dropping goal from the opposite red line into the tiniest open section of net. Ryan Kesler let his son go and shoot for him in the shootout competition where he scored a goal on Carey Price.
