Colin Kaepernick said his thoughts on the crisis as well. They both decided to help the cause. On March 17, 2017, Casey Neistat posted a "behind the scenes" video of what is happening. They will bring about 60 tons of supplies to Somalia in their cargo plane. Turkish Airlines have also contributed another 140 tons of space for the next six months. "There was an idea, and then a tweet, and then the tweet turned into a movement, which became something else, that has now become action,” says Casey Neistat who was heard that Turkish Airlines will be shipping the 60 tons of food and supplies. Although Neistat is not apart of the people who really started it, he is part of the fundraising and he has posted a YouTube video for all of his six million subscribers to help the cause and to donate to the fundraiser. Oscars Mistake: Warren Beatty Announces Wrong Winner

la-la-land-moonlight-oscar-mixup.jpg

The 89th Academy Awards was on Sunday, February 26th, 2017. Every year, they make a disclaimer stating that because it is in fact a live production, despite their best efforts, they never really know what's gonna happen. Needless to say, this year, there was definitely one big mistake that everyone noticed.

CukuQGmWIAALE6V.jpg
It was time for the most prestigious award of the night. The "Best Picture" award. This award is given to the film that is the greatest out of all of the films in the category, but what is actually the best about it, is up to the Academy. Whether it's directing, acting, cinematography, whatever. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were the to chosen to announce this award, and everyone noticed there was something wrong as soon as Beatty opened the envelope. He stood there for a few seconds, confused as he saw Emma Stone's name and "La La Land" written on the envelope, and finally, Dunaway took the envelope for him and announced it for him. The whole cast and crew started to come on stage and say their speeches, but stopped as soon as they noticed their mistake, and as people in the background starting handing envelopes to people.

“There’s a mistake. ‘Moonlight’ you guys won best picture,” Jordan Horowitz said to the shocked audience. “This is not a joke, come up here” the producer added. “Moonlight has won best picture.”

After all of that confusion, Beatty came back on stage to clarify, here's what actually happened: Beatty and Dunaway were actually given the wrong envelope. Instead of it being the best picture envelope, they were given the best actress envelope, so that's why it had solely Emma Stone's name on it and the movie she starred in on it. Beatty then returned to the microphone to explain: “I want to tell you what happened. I opened the envelope and it said Emma Stone, ‘La La Land.’ That’s why I took such a long look at Faye and at you. I wasn’t trying to be funny.”

"Moonlight" beat out 8 other amazing movies, they included“  “La La Land,” “Hidden Figures,” “Manchester by the Sea,” “Arrival,” “Hacksaw Ridge,” “Hell or High Water,” “Lion,” and “Fences.”

University Decides to Make a Course to Fight Fake News

Students of University of Michigan have influenced this course based on the anti-media tagline created by soon to be president, Donald Trump. Their library has teamed up with the College of Literature, Sciences and Art department to make a class on fake news. The name of this class is "Fake News, Lies and Propaganda: How to Sort Fact from Fiction", according to CBC News. One of the founders is Doreen Bradley, who has discovered that students have a hard time sorting fact from fiction when it comes to articles. According to Bradley, the course was created to teach students to double check before confirming anything.

The course Itself will begin with defining fake news. After the course has finished, the hope for the class is to make sure that students will trust the source. Bradley told CBC News that "There is no right, there is no wrong, everyone just comes out with a different perspective and its important for students to recognize what the perspective is of what they're reading." The library director already knows that the education of a university should always have students learn about critical thinking. That is why the librarians enforce this class, They want the students to have the critical thinking knowledge.

The 2017 NHL trade deadline has passed!

The 2017 National Hockey League trade deadline has come and has gone as it was for the most part one not to remember. The day started off very slowly with barely any trades going through compared to normal. Most of the big fish on the trade bait either didn't get moved or were moved days before the deadline day. We will be going down who got moved and who we think won the trade.

The biggest trade happened two days before the deadline of 3:00pm on Wednesday March 1st as Kevin Shattenkirk got moved to the Washington Capitals who have gone all in mode for the cup. They gave away a first round draft pick, several other picks and a great young forward in Sanford to get Shattenkirk.  They are clearly not focusing on the present but on the future. Washington will win this trade if they win the cup this year as it would pay off but if they don't St. Louis would have to have gotten more for the future,

The second biggest player moved was Martin Hanzel who went from Arizona to Minnisota. A even trade as Minnisota gave away a lot of picks in order to get this great power forward. They also got Ryan white a 4th liner. Both teams got what they wanted out of this trade.

The biggest goalie on the block, Ben Bishop was traded to the Los Angeles Kings as it was very odd seeing they already have a excellent goalie in Quick. Even though they are spending over 10 million dollars on goalies they won this trade as it didn't take much to get him.

The Montreal Canadians tried to be very active during this trade day as they made four smaller player deals as they try to build a good backend to their offence. Thomas Vanek was traded from detroit to Florida as he has had a good season.

Matt Duchene among many players who were thought to be traded but wearn't. More players like that include Landeskog, Grigorenko, Kulikov, Kane, Duclair, Vrabata, Fleury and many more.

Other known players who split from their team were Stafford, Fehr, Burrows, Hansen, Lazar, Streit, Oduya and Stalberg. This years trade deadline wasn't as busy as usual but was still entertaining as we get closer and closer to the playoffs.
