Youtuber Casey Neistat, famous actor Ben Stiller, football star Colin Kaepernick, media star Jerome Jarre and a lot more other people decided to raise at least 1 million dollars to help the immense famine in Somalia. Jerome Jarre was the one who had the idea of having a plane ship about 60 tons of food and water to Somalia. A few days later, Ben Stiller saw the video on Twitter and said a few words of his own. Colin Kaepernick said his thoughts on the crisis as well. They both decided to help the cause. On March 17, 2017, Casey Neistat posted a "behind the scenes" video of what is happening. The four of them and others have created a website to raise the 1 million dollars needed. In less than 24 hours, they raised over 1 million dollars. Now, they have 2,314,502 million dollars in six days.
When Jarre called Turkish Airlines, they said that they agree to fly to Somalia with the food and water because they are the only airline to fly to Somalia. They will bring about 60 tons of supplies to Somalia in their cargo plane. Turkish Airlines have also contributed another 140 tons of space for the next six months. "There was an idea, and then a tweet, and then the tweet turned into a movement, which became something else, that has now become action,” says Casey Neistat who was heard that Turkish Airlines will be shipping the 60 tons of food and supplies. Although Neistat is not apart of the people who really started it, he is part of the fundraising and he has posted a YouTube video for all of his six million subscribers to help the cause and to donate to the fundraiser. The link for the fundraiser at the bottom of this article. Since they have passed their goal and have got more than two million dollars six days ago, They have more than enough to donate to Somalia.
